Who can open a Gentreo account?

Any U.S. resident over 18 years old can open a Gentreo account.

How much does Gentreo cost?
The Gold Gentreo membership costs $150 for the first year and renews at $50 per year thereafter. If you invite someone to be a part of your Gentreo team, that membership is free for them. With a Gentreo team membership, users can access the files and information that you give them access to but cannot create their own documents. A standard Gentreo membership is required for anyone to create their own estate planning documents. Check back for updated pricing as additional options become available.
Can I create an account for someone else?
Yes, you can create and store documents for someone else as long as they are legally capable of making decisions. The account will be saved under the e-mail address that you registered with when you first signed up as a Gentreo user. In order for documents to be executed (or legally binding), the person that you create documents for must have the capacity to execute estate planning documents. They must do it freely and voluntarily and most must be signed by them in front of witnesses and/or a notary.
Yes. Once you created an account for someone, you can use Gentreo to create legal documents for someone else. Once their documents are created, the documents need to be signed by that person in front of witnesses or a notary depending on the document. It’s also best to have a letter from their doctor stating that the person you’re creating documents for is legally capable of making decisions in the event their documents are contested. Be sure to save a copy of their doctor’s letter as well as the executed documents in their Gentreo Digital Vault.
What is a Gentreo Team?
As a Gentreo plan account holder, you can invite your friends and family to access, view and download your documents or information from your Gentreo Digital Vault. Those people that you invite are your Gentreo Team.

 

When you create a Gentreo Team, the people you trust have the information and documents they need to protect your wishes if you’re unable to do so yourself.
 
Your Gentreo Team Members can start their own Gentreo team member account free of charge. Once they join, you can select which documents or information that they can see. If needed, you can change which information they have access to or delete their account as needed.
What does being a team member mean?

A Gentreo account holder has asked you to be a part of the group of people he or she trusts with his or her most important information, documents and requests. As a team member, you can view and download documents that are shared with you. A team member account is free of charge, but if you want to create your own documents, you must open a full Gentreo plan for yourself.

Do my team members get access to all of my documents or just the ones I choose?

A team member only has access to the documents and notes that you have chosen to share with that individual. You may stop sharing a document at any time.

Can a team member share my documents?

A team member can download a .pdf copy of your signed documents and then can share the document via whatever manner they deem appropriate.

How do my team members get access to my documents?

First, you must invite the person to join your Gentreo team and select what permissions you are going to give that person. This invitation is sent from your Gentreo account in the form of an email, so you must have that person’s email address. Next, that person must click the link in the email account to accept the invitation. Once the person has accepted the invitation, that individual can now access the areas of your account for which you have given that person access.

Can team members change my documents?

No. Team members can only read and download your documents.

Can I resend an invitation?

Yes. Simply go into your team section, select the person that you would like to resend the invitation to re-invite them to join your team.

Can I share access to Gentreo with a pending user?

No, everyone must first join Gentreo.

What file types and formats can I upload?

Users cannot add .exe files to their Gentreo Digital Vault. Office, image, and pdf documents are accepted. All other types are discouraged.

Can I scan a file to add to my Gentreo Digital Vault?

Yes, you can use a scanning device, such as a smart phone to scan documents and then upload those saved files into your Gentreo Digital Vault. Taking pictures of documents is also a fast way to save information then upload them.

Is there a storage limit per user for my Gentreo Digital Vault?

Currently storage is limited to approximately 10GB. You can upload individual files up to 250MB in size.

Can I share my documents in Gentreo with someone else?

Yes, .pdf files and notes can be shared.

Who should I share my information with?

Share information only with a person(s) you trust. Check routinely to make sure that no relationships have changed that might cause you to want to change what you share with others. Note that everyone that you share information with must first set-up a Gentreo account in order to access shared materials.

Do people I want to have access to my account need to sign up for Gentreo to access shared documents?

Yes, everyone you share information with must first set-up a Gentreo account in order to access shared materials. Gentreo sends emails to prompt your team members to sign up so as to be able to access accounts.

Does having Gentreo mean I can get rid of all the paper in my life?

Gentreo suggests that you still keep copies of your important documents. Be sure to list where you store your documents in your Digital Vault under “Important Information”.

Do I need to have internet to be able to access Gentreo?

Yes, internet access is required to log in to Gentreo.

What browsers does Gentreo support?

Gentreo works to support major browsers such as Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Gentreo does not support Internet Explorer.

Is Gentreo accessible from my smartphone and tablet?

Yes.

Is there an app?

Not yet, but Gentreo is mobile friendly so you can always access the site from your smartphone, tablet or laptop.

How do I reset my password?

You can reset your password by clicking “Forgot your password?” when trying to log-in to Gentreo.

How does Gentreo keep my information safe?

Gentreo uses a range of banking level safeguards to protect and secure your critical documents.

Are my uploaded files readable by Gentreo employees in any way?

Currently, the content of your Gentreo remains encrypted and is not accessed, used, or shared by Gentreo employees for any purpose, except at your direction or as required or permitted by law.

What if I suspect that my account has been compromised?

Please email us at help@gentreo.com immediately and put in the subject header, “Account Compromised”.
